It’s Mistletoe Mayhem time. Santa Claus is coming to town. Will you be ready for what he brings you? At this time of year emotions run very high. If you are attached, it can be the most romantic time of the year. If you are unattached, it can seem like “The Nightmare Before Christmas”.
Going solo to all those events, answering all those questions like, “Why are you single?” And, of course, there may be no one to stand with under the mistletoe. This is where my experience in offline personalized matchmaking services comes to the rescue. I specialize in helping people find the love of their life.
Let’s take a look at a typical holiday party scenario. You arrive on time (check the Miss Manners box on that one), have a drink, a few nibbles, work the room, then just as you put your coat on to leave, thinking that all is lost, you spy a great looking guy across the room. That’s mistletoe mayhem.
Now what? What’s your move? Should you stand there coyly waiting for him to approach you? How about taking destiny into your own hands by having a few icebreakers ready, just in case? Here are a few of my favorites to get his engine started:
- You don’t have to take your coat off for this one. Walk over very confidently and hand him your business card saying very seductively, “I think you must have misplaced this.” Then drag your sable behind you as saunter out the door.
- Pretend you have met him before. Walk up to him and say, “John, how are you doing? It has been way too long.” He will then likely say, “My name is not John”. You can reply, “Your smile looks so familiar to me.” Then let the conversation and the chemistry begin.
- Apply fresh lipstick, preferably Chanel’s longwearing kind (my personal favorite) and say, “May I ask you a favor? I want to make sure my lipstick is kiss-proof for my date later tonight.” Then he will say, “What time is your date?”, to which you reply, “I’m not sure what time. Do you want to go instead?”
These are fun ways to be original, fun and highlight your dynamic personality amidst the mistletoe mayhem. Remember to wear your favorite scent and holiday makeup to get a head start on the New Year. And, for Heaven’s sake, don’t wear a Christmas sweater unless you do plan to stay single through the holidays and beyond.
Lastly, if you are attached, be sure to reach out to your single friends and include them in your festivities. Remember, friends don’t let friends be alone during the
